At Balad, the market-leader consumer maps and navigation app in Iran, we were working on various small business verticals in the city when we observed an unprecedented number of users checking pharmacy POIs (Points of Interest in the city) details on the map followed by a high number of phone calls. At the same time the shortage of many medicines in the country was reflected on the news. We had a reputation for being the reference of COVID-19 vaccination centers, therefore we were tasked to research the problem of medicine shortage in the country.
